SALINE COUNTY ENACTS MAJOR COURTHOUSE SECURITY UPGRADE

January 4, 2017—Saline County is now hiring up to five new courthouse security officers as part of a dramatic upgrade to security for the courthouse and other county offices. Designed by County Judge Jeff Arey and Circuit Judge Robert Herzfeld and approved by the Quorum Court last month, the 2017 security enhancements will include fully-manned security checkpoints with metal detectors at the two circuit court buildings, a full time security officer in the County Office Annex, and a full time officer in the Bryant Revenue Office.

“The security of our citizens, employees, and elected officials is critical, especially in these uncertain times,” said Judge Arey. “It’s been an honor working with Judge Herzfeld, the Quorum Court, and  our other elected officials to develop this plan which will deliver a significant improvement while maximizing our resources and minimizes inconvenience and cost.  I would like to extend my appreciation to the Quorum Court for their work on this matter and especially to County Collector Joy Ballard for finding funds within her budget to pay for the cost of two of the new officers.”

Arey credited Circuit Judge Robert Herzfeld as originating the plan, “Judge Herzfeld, who also serves as the Administrative Judge, came to me with his concept, and I agreed immediately that this was something not only that we could do, but that we needed to do as soon as possible,” said Arey. “We’ll be rolling out the improvements in stages and expect everything to be in place within the next few months.  Our priority right now is getting qualified applicants for the new courthouse security positions.  It is important that we fill these five positions with qualified law enforcement personnel who can address our specific needs.”

According to the County Job Posting, the positions are all currently funded and open for application with a salary range of $11.32 - $12.74 per hour plus benefits. Interested applicants for these positions may pick up a copy of the job notice posting, job description and application at the Saline County HR/Personnel Office, Saline County Courthouse, Room 112, 200 N. Main, Benton, AR  72015 or may go to the Saline County website at www.salinecounty.org, select “County Offices” and scroll down on the left to select “HR/Personnel”.
