HEALTH UNIT

 

The mission of the Saline County Health Unit is to protect and improve the health and well-being of all residents. We do this with the support of our dedicated employees and public and private partners. All employees are expected to exemplify professionalism in everything they do. They are passionate about what they do because they are making a difference by helping people make their lives healthier.

Health Unit Programs and Services:

Applications for Family Planning Waiver, Birth Certificates, Motor Voter Registration, AR Kids First, Pregnant Women's Medicaid can be picked up at front desk.

WIC - (Women, Infants, and Children)

WIC is a special nutritional program that provides food vouchers for postpartum, pregnant and breast-feeding women, infants, and children under age five.

Nutritional consultation services are provided. Nutritional Consultation by appointment only.

TB SKIN TEST GIVEN
Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday-Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
Reading - Monday 7:30 am - 11:30 am or 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Reading - Friday 7:30 am to 11:30 am
Tuberculosis screening, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up are now available.

GENERAL CLINIC IMMUNIZATION
Daily from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Immunization Services: include immunization against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, measles, rubella, chicken pox, HIB, Hepatis B, and other vaccine - preventable diseases.  Adult tetnus/diphtheria, boosters, also tetanus/diphtheria post injury must have written order from physician.

October 15th - April 1st

Family Planning: includes provision of medical care, counseling and contraceptive supplies to clients.  Patients are charged on a sliding - fee scale or assisted with Family Planning Waiver Application.

Birth Control Pill pickup and Depo Provera shots for established patients
Daily from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Reproductive Health (Family Planning)
Call for appointment.

Vasectomy counseling & referral
Daily from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

BCCCP - Breast/cervical cancer screening, pap smear, and breast exam (referral for mammogram, done locally.)
Breast & Cervical Cancer Control Project, call for appointment 1-870-670-2273

HIV/STD Services: include diagnosis, referral, and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases

HIV/STD SCREENING
Daily from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

In Home Services: include in-home nursing assistance for homebound individuals.  Personal Care will send an aide to the home to help with personal hygiene and light chores.  Hospice is to help the critically ill patient and family.

Environmental Health Protection: includes food service inspection, sewage disposal, general sanitation, water quality, rabies control, and vector control.
